One of the UK's largest paediatric nephrology centres, the Department of Paediatric Nephrology at RMCH looks after a population of over 5 million in the northwest of England. We provide comprehensive renal services, including a supraregional service for renal transplantation, including in ABO incompatible and highly sensitised patient. Over 20 children undergo transplantation each year. We have a large population of children undergoing both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. We hold specialist clinics in dialysis, transplantation, acute kidney injury, hypertension, metabolic disease, renal stone disease, antenatal nephrology and bladder dysfunction. There is an active clinical research programme focusing on studies of new medicines for childhood renal disease, performed in conjunction with our NIHR Manchester Clinical Research Facility (Director Webb). The PREDNOS and PREDNOS 2 studies have been led from Manchester and we have been active participants in multiple further studies. We have a strong basic science research programme led by Professors Lennon and Woolf.
