Magdalena Jankowska

I am a physician specialized in nephrology and transplantology with more than 15 years of experience in clinical practice and research on ADPKD. I earned my Ph.D. and became an Assistant Professor at the Medical University of Gdansk, Poland. I have been working at the Department of Nephrology, Transplantology and Internal Medicine, where I am responsible for the follow-up of a cohort of ADPKD patients. I teach nephrology and renal nutrition to students, nurses and nephrology trainees. I participate in clinical trials and research in order to improve the care we are able to provide to ADPKD patients. My research interests focus on the systemic manifestations of ADPKD including its metabolic, nutritional, hormonal and skeletal complications. In 2019 I was awarded a grant for international (together with Karolinska Institutet Stockholm and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) research on bone phenotype in ADPKD patients.

Recognizing the unique needs of my patients, I co-authored a guide for ADPKD patients and their families and a cook-book for haemodialysis patients.

In the near future I would like to engage more in the problems of healthcare transition and healthcare disparities in my region.
